How Afro Hair is Styled in Prêt-à-Porter Fashion Shows: Case Study – Christian Dior

Christian Dior is one of the most famous French fashion brands out there, and Galliano, the British designer of CD, does include black models in his Dior shows, which allows us a great opportunity to assess how black hair is styled in said fashion shoots. Sorry to keep repeating myself, but I want all subscribers whether you are email or RSS to enjoy the content, so please enable images. Back to the content: The collection we will analyse is Christian Dior’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

1. R’el Dade

Besides the fact this look is stunning, the hair is very 1940s JET magazine chic, which I love. It’s flirty and I am wondering whether the haute power look of natural hair will also change to fit the flirty look. Is natural hair powerful or flirty? This picture can kick off that debate. Lots of heat was used here, that much is clear though so not sure how you would feel about that!

2. Chanel Iman

They have continued the 1940s look with Chanel Iman, who pulls off the look nicely. The question I want to know is did Christian Dior pull off black hair in a retro way in a way that you would like to execute or is it too frilly?

Let me know what you think! I am keen to get your views!
