Black Girls on…the Rise: Laura Izibor/From My Heart To Yours

Was magazining it today in Borders and saw Laura Izibor on the cover of jazz magazine, Echoes. Izibor is an Irish girl from Dublin of mixed Irish/Nigerian origin.

As you can see, she is talented. She has this retro stylistic touch to her voice that reminds me of Lina, an underrated artist for sure. I don’t get all the Joss Stone comparisons that UK people are giving. Izibor sounds nothing like Stone (thank goodness for that).

Here’s a cute interview with the 21 year old singer. Her accent is gorgeous.

This girl is going places.

  1. She has a wonderful vibe and feel. I first checked her out at The Couch Sessions. She’s delightful. I remember 21 and it wasn’t this lovely @ all. LOL.

  2. @politicallyincorrect, we’ll have to agree to disagree. If she did sound like Joss Stone, she’d sound like a wannabee American when she speaks and she doesn’t 😉

  3. She does sound like Joss Stone. Another biracial singer? She said she doesn’t know where her soul come from?
