Hey, I just came across your blog while looking for some tips on how to develop a thick skin. This is something I am struggling with as I can get very emotional when someone says something hurtful. Recently, I finished a job doing a mural for a client and I shared my opinion on something I thought could have been done to avoid having to do floor repairs because of the paint that dripped. I later apologized for doing this (she felt disrespected) and accepted responsibility for the damage. However, when trying to initiate a discussion to possibly reach some kind of compromise over payment for the repairs, she decided to personally attack and demean me for what I said previously and then proceeded to dismiss everything I said afterward. Needless to say that, despite myself, I got quite emotional over this. I am really trying to develop a thick skin particularly in business, because people see displays of emotion as a sign of weakness and feel that they can take advantage of you and treat you how they like.

Can she do something else with her voice? It always sounds the same. I do not like the video. Apart from it being black and white, there is nothing really special about it.

Jamie as an African that lives in Africa I can tell you that natural hair is not the norm. If you’ve read my blog at all, you would know that. Somehow the insecurities that black people have with their hair managed to wade across the atlantic to us.

I liked this issue, and that article in particular. I thought it came across as very honest, especially Nia and Solange. I am surprised only 25% said they didn’t think a man would like natural hair, I would think they would say 50% or more. Of course, in reality that’s not true (I hope).

Wow, I’m sorry to hear this. Aulelia please try to stay positive so that this negative wretch cannot pull you down to her level. I hope you get the relief you need at your friend’s house. Hopefully you will be able to find a better living situation soon.
