Magazine Commentary: Naomi in i-D magazine

NB: No scans of Naomi C in this post!

**Naomi C is in the new issue of i-D magazine. Some readers of the blog may or may not remember that in fact i-D did a controversial fashion spread where a black model looks basically like Aunt Jemima so this magazine is suspect anyway.

Yet, in the new issue of i-D, Naomi is not on the cover, Mariah is, but she has a fashion spread where she is in Malindi, Kenya. I do not have the scans from the magazine because I am attempting to cut down on my magazine chomping but they are very worrying to say the least. Why does Naomi always look the same ? Why can’t NC just try something different ? I do think she is fabulous, despite her issues with people but…I don’t know. I almost feel like there is something about her that leaves a lot to be desired. There is one shot in i-D featuring Naomi standing with what is presumably Maasai men. It is such an OBVIOUS and stereotypical way of doing things. Naomi looks Westernised and they make the Kenyan men look like Maasais as if every Kenyan man is a Maasai which is not true. I just feel like it is such a weak way of doing a shoot. Also, Naomi is wearing those bloody blue contacts again. Ah. This woman. There is no hope. Lol, if I got her on Kerosene (which would never happen ha!) but I would so get her not to wear them
